Been a while

Well it sure has been a while since I have posted, and I’ve said in the past that I hope to do more posts, to be honest we will just see.  I find it harder to find time during these summer months to do posts as there is so much more to do.  On top of that I’ve been quite busy this past month, lots of stuff has changed for the good.

On June 19th I became a home owner!  I’m no longer living in Indianapolis and am back up close to my home town.  I’ve got a great place on a bay on Lake Tippecanoe and I absolutely love it.  I’ve been there for 3 weekends now and each one has been amazing, I don’t anticipate that changing anytime soon either.  Last weekend really was the best, 4th of July on the lake is my favorite weekend of the year.  We started partying Thursday night at Bingo and didn’t stop until Sunday night.  I think at the max there were close to 30 people at my place.   All in all it was a great weekend with no drama, and there are lots of great pics to remember it all.

Its kind of a transition period here for me at work.  Recently I’ve been helping out with all kinds of paperwork here in the office while moving all kinds of other stuff around to get my office ready.  Still doing a lot of work getting my house ready as well.  Lots of clothes unpacking to do and I’ve got a room full of other stuff that I just need to figure out where I’m going to put.  I really just need another 3 days of vacation to work on the place and get it where I want, all in good time though.

Guess its time to sign off for now, until we talk again, and hopefully sooner than later.

Memorial Day Weekend Goodness

Well it was an awesome start to the summer last weekend.  One of the best Memorial Day Weekends that I can remember.  The lake water wasn’t even to terribly cold, it was brisk but warmer than previous years.  It was really nice to get out on the new pontoon and just chill in the middle of the lake listening to music and having a few beers.  It was definitely a good start to the summer.

I was a little dissappointed in the Indy 500 turnout, mainly because I bought a car in the auction at the club and he didn’t end up winning me any money, but other than that I was happy for Helio, he seems like a good guy and has been through quite a bit recently.  Its also always awesome to hear Jim Nabors sing “Back Home Again In Indiana”.  We also got some great dominos action in over with the Smith’s, I didn’t fare to well but it was still a good time.

Last night was a fun night here in Indy, Ryan Dill’s post-birthday celebration.  I cooked up a pretty good mean of beer can chicken, and McAlister potatos.  Nate, Ryan, and I feasted on that and watched the hockey.  Hockey turned out bad for the Hawks, hard to describe how I feel, the goalie (Huet) played awesome the whole game.  The offense just never seemed to be able to get their act in gear.  Good season for the Hawks, hopefully next year they can make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.  Jeff joined us later in the night for a game of Trivial Pursuit 90’s Edition, it was a bit rediculous, really made us feel like we didn’t grow up in the 90’s.  We kind of got to thinking though that maybe we would be better at the 2000’s edition because we were old enough to pay attention to what happened for the whole decade.  Does anybody even know if there is a 2000’s edition of that game out yet?

Thats about all for now, heading home tonight or tomorrow, lots to do this weekend back at home.  Hope everybody has a good weekend.

Star Trek was cool

Went and saw Star Trek last night with Nate at the IMAX theatre up in Noblesville.  That was a sweet movie, I think that was the first movie I’ve seen in IMAX that wasn’t a “Journey to Space” or “Life in the Amazon” type of movie.  It was worth the couple extra bucks to see it in IMAX, the sound effect they used for when they go into warp speed was really awesome, its one of those things you just need to hear, I can’t even try to describe it via text.

So summer lake season officially kicks off this weekend, I’m really excited for that.  Hopefully we will get some nice weather for the weekend and if we could have an Indy 500 without rain, that would be a big plus.  I love Memorial Day weekend and am excited to see my sister and Adam who are coming back in town and ready to spend some time on the lake.  Who knows, maybe there will be some other good news to celebrate!

Its been crazy the past couple of weeks, just so much stuff going on this time of year on top of everything else that is going on.  I’ll be sure to fill in on that as the time comes.  Looking forward to tomorrows trip to Greensburg, Anna and Alex are coming down from Ft. Wayne, it will be great to have both of them back for a fun night before Alex heads off the Florida for the summer, then back home on Thursday for a work golf outing and the rest of the weekend at the lake.  Time to make final changes to the summer lake cd, I’ll post the final track list here shortly.

That was an instant classic!

Wow, for those of you that are not hockey fans or don’t watch the playoffs, I wish you could have seen the Blackhawks game tonight.  That was the most exciting game I have seen all year.  Blackhawks got off to a great start and were up 3-1 in the 2nd, only to fall behind 4-3 in the third and come back to win the game 7-5 with 4 goals in the 3rd period and a hat trick for Patrick Kane.  It was so amazing, the 3rd period was a total rush of back and forth scoring.  Patrick Kane’s 3rd and final goal was one of the best moves of the playoffs.  Now on to the Western Conference Finals to face most likely the Detroit Red Wings, or possibly the Anahiem Ducks.  Wow, the United Center was rocking tonight!

Well its been a quite busy couple of weeks, Nate graduated last Friday with his MBA from IU which is awesome, so happy for him.  We had a great couple nights of celebration for him.  Woke my ass up early on Saturday and squeezed in a round of golf with Nate and Dill which was really a pretty good round for me.  Shot an 89, had probably 3 birdie putts and ended up with 4-5 pars, and only 1 3-putt all day.  Booked it home after that to see Mom for Mothers Day.  Spent Saturday night with Reedo watching the Blackhawks game that night and playing Country Sing Star which was a blast.  You’d be amazed how much we sound like Big & Rich, if Reedo and I get bored this fall/winter we may start recording an album lol.  Golfed with Mom and Dad Sunday and didn’t play as well as the day before but eeked out a 94 and sunk a 12 footer on 18 to win the match for Mom and I so that was a good feeling.  Then we got our pontoon later that night.  Unfortunately the rain screwed us from our first boat ride of the year, but I’ll be back up that way Thursday and will be sure to have the boat out for my first trip around the lake of the year.

Summer is almost here and I’m sure excited, lots of stuff going on right now and I can’t wait to see everybody this summer up at the lake.  Hope everybody had a great Monday, check back soon for more!

Greensburg Indiana = Good Times

Well its Wednesday night and Anna and I just got back from a weekly trip to Greensburg, guess I’ve been back for about an hour now.  It was a fun trip down there tonight, but sad in a way that it may be the last time Anna and I head down to see Davis and Jake.  Anna just finished up school so she’s about to move home for the summer and I’m going to be moving back to Warsaw before the end of June.  It’s great to get to take one night a week and head down to a small town and spend the night relaxing and usually enjoying some delicious margaritas with 3 good friends.  We’ve even got other people to come there and meet us which have always been great additions.  Richardson makes it down about twice a month as does Lindsey driving up from Cincinatti, and we even got Jeff and Justin to come celebrate the good times last week.  Even though Greensburg is a tiny town that most people have no idea where it is at until you tell them its between Indy and Cinci, doesn’t mean it’s not a fun place to go.  I’m lucky to have good friends there that will let me come down once a week.

The rest of the week should be pretty awesome.  Working tomorrow and then heading down to Bloomington tomorrow night for Nate’s graduation Friday morning.  I’m guessing we will hit up some of the normal bars tomorrow night for a few drinks to celebrate and then get Nate graudated Friday morning before the big celebration party that night.  Sounds like an all star start to the weekend to me.  Saturday is poll day for the Indy 500, so that will definitely get me excited for the big race here in a couple weeks.  The month of May is a good one, summer and lake season is just a few weeks away and I can’t wait!

Now thats a good Friday night!

For quite some time now I’ve really been over the “bar-scene”.  I just no longer feel the need to go to some rediculously packed bar and pound back a few drinks only to leave with my clothes reaking of smoke.  I have no problem going to bars still, but I much prefer a less crowded bar where I can have a conversation with friends and enjoy my time.  Tonight was the perfect night to me, and I couldn’t have picked 3 better people to spend it with.  So the group was Nate, Jen, and Anna, and we had a blast everywhere we went.  We started off the night at a nice wine-bar/restaurant (I believe it was called Corner Wine Bar, in Broadripple).  We get there to find out that there would be a 45 minute wait to get a seat upstairs or we could go down and eat in the wine cellar which had lots of seating and was first come first serve.  So we were kind of wondering what it would be like down there as the stairway which led there headed straight to the bathrooms first.  But once we got down there and saw the dining area we knew we had made the right decision.  It was an awesome atmosphere, and we had an amazing dinner.  They even had homemade ice cream sandwhiches for dessert which was awesome.

After that the 4 of us went over to a bar that had shuffleboard.  Nate and I took on Anna and Jen, and we lost to them by 3.  It was a great game as it was back and forth pretty much the whole time, and had Anna not been so good at knocking my pucks off and leaving hers in the scoring zone we may have pulled out the victory.  Just don’t believe Jen if she tells you they whooped our asses, because it was a close game!!!!!  Following a good game of shuffleboard we headed over to Casba for a couple drinks to end the night.  I really love that bar, almost everytime I have been there when we walk in we’re pretty much the only people there.  I think there were 3-4 other guys there playing darts and that was it.  On top of that they make the best drinks there.  Nate and I enjoyed some whiskey and cokes while the ladies had a couple pineapple expresses in honor of Jeff “Pineapple Express” Darrow.

Big day tomorrow, its Derby day, so I made mint syrup for mint juleps in honor of the Kentucky Derby.  Also there is a big boxing fight tomorrow night too.  Can’t forget that the Bulls have game 7 tomorrow in an amazing series and the Blackhawks have their 2nd game in the 2nd round, not sure how I’m gonna get all of that in but my TV will be getting a lot of use tomorrow evening.  For now that’s it.  As for Anna and Jen, Nate and I will be demanding a rematch very soon, keep you puck skills sharp!
